RemotePrevent GmbH

Pioneering secure, anonymous solutions for preventing child sexual abuse globally, rooted in decades of clinical expertise.

Our Mission & Origin

Remote Prevent GmbH is dedicated to preventing child sexual abuse and mitigating its consequences through innovative, secure, and anonymous support systems. Our work is built upon the foundation of over two decades of pioneering prevention efforts by the Institute of Sexology and Sexual Medicine at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, particularly through the "Prevention Project Dunkelfeld" (PPD) initiated in 2005.

This extensive experience includes specialized programs for individuals within the "dark field" – those who experience sexual attraction to children but are committed to ensuring no child comes to harm, either through direct abuse or the use of material depicting abuse. Germany's unique legal landscape, characterized by strong patient confidentiality protections and the absence of mandatory reporting laws for outpatient treatment, has been instrumental in reaching this vulnerable group by enabling access to anonymous, health insurance-funded therapy.

A core principle guiding our work is the differentiation between a person's sexual preference (which is not chosen) and their behavior (for which they are responsible). We maintain a non-judgmental stance towards individuals seeking help, focusing squarely on preventing harm to children.

As awareness of these prevention initiatives grew, so did inquiries from individuals abroad where comparable support structures are often non-existent. In response, the Institute developed the multilingual self-help tool "Troubled Desire" and began facilitating connections between international clients and therapists trained for remote treatment. Remote Prevent GmbH was established to provide the robust, privacy-focused infrastructure necessary to manage these international referrals and collaborations securely and effectively.

Our Approach: Evidence-Based & Confidential

Our services are grounded in scientifically validated methods and extensive clinical experience, primarily developed at the Institute of Sexology and Sexual Medicine, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. We utilize a manualized therapeutic concept known as Berlin Dissexuality Therapy (BEDIT), which integrates cognitive-behavioral techniques, sex-therapeutic interventions, and optional pharmacotherapy support under medical guidance.

A fundamental goal of this approach is to enhance behavioral control and self-regulation regarding harmful sexual impulses, rather than attempting to change an individual's underlying sexual preference. The BEDIT model has also been adapted for younger individuals (BEDIT-A).

Key components of our service delivery include:

This structured approach ensures that individuals receive consistent, high-quality, evidence-based support tailored to their specific needs, regardless of their location.

Anonymity & Security: Our Core Commitment

We recognize that anonymity is paramount for individuals seeking help for problematic sexual interests directed towards children. The fear of stigmatization is a significant barrier to accessing support. Therefore, ensuring the highest possible level of privacy is central to our mission.

Our commitment to confidentiality is upheld through:

By providing this secure and confidential environment, we aim to encourage individuals, particularly those in countries lacking similar specialized and protected services, to seek the help they need to prevent harm.

Global Reach & Research Impact

While rooted in German expertise, Remote Prevent GmbH focuses on extending crucial prevention services internationally. We bridge the gap for individuals in countries where specialized, confidential support for problematic sexual interests is unavailable.
